SS Great Britain's propeller

Our first look at the ship's propeller was through the "glass sea." The Great Britain is held at the waterline in a horizontal sheet of glass panes, thinly covered with water. The liner had been deteriorating in the Falklands--in fact, her hull had been holed so as to stabilize her in the shallows--and the glass permits the conservators to regulate humidity down below. Unfortunately, seepage from the canal interferes.
