


At top, the long green boat at the back is the scow Echo, which is up on the hard in Picton. The following two pics are taken from the Echo, where I had a glass of local Pinot Noir and sat for a bit. The last one includes what is called locally the coat-hanger bridge; it looks to me more like a pointed arch. It's a foot bridge, tall enough to permit ships to pass beneath.
Over its life as a working vessel, the Echo was stranded on sand bars in the Marlborough Sounds 15 times and 'wrecked' a couple of times as well. It was probably a good idea to pull her out of the water.
