Farewell to Carteret
Stacy and Atlantic were our stops as we traveled toward the ferry over to Ocracoke. The soundfront home, which is a derelict near Cedar Island, is very similar to a nonderelict one, also soundfront (Nelson Bay), that is available in Stacy for $85,000. Soooo tempting. We could have a house just for visits...
The tuglike boat in Atlantic may or may not be the ferry over to Portsmouth Island. Portsmouth is only 4 miles off the coast of Atlantic -- which makes this part of the Carolina coast especially attractive. Shelling and beachcombing on Portsmouth are, as I've said before, breathtaking.
