The poppies are bright orangey red. They stand out nicely against the purpley blue in the bed where they reside. Orange and blue are opposite one another on the color wheel, which is supposed to mean that they go well together. However, in fashion, this can be a tricky proposition. I've seen some unhappy marriages of certain orange and blue shades.
