I think these blooms, which are the same color, look nice together anyway. I say "the same color" because, when I bought the lupin, it was labeled as pink. I'm quite happy with the purpley blue. Of course, I was buying pink to reduce the prevalence in my yard of purpley blue...
That's my eldest sister Gillian, by the way. She says that my yard is the nicest one in the family. So there.
