I had to pull loosestrife and obedient plant out of my sun garden to reveal the poppy plant. It will no doubt have fewer blooms this year than it had in 2010 as a result of having been crowded. I saw only three buds.
I love how an iris bud looks. It's a cone, or it's a blue leaf, or it's the tip of a spear. The buds are only fat like this for part of one day before blooms break out.
