I purchased this pink gaura (a.k.a. whirling butterflies) last year to memorialize my sister-in-law, Catherine Semensi. I had to buy a new one this year because, frankly, I could not bring myself to put the plant into the ground. It rested where it was meant to be, but in a pot.
I don't go looking for symbolism, but it occurs to me that there may have been some in my resistance to plant the gaura. My sister eventually planted it for me.
